Tasmanian newspaper promotes standardbred breeding

In an era where Harness Racing gets very little main stream media coverage and the breeding side absolutely zero it was refreshing to pick up a country independently owned newspaper in Tasmania to find on page 2 yes that’s right  Page 2 a snippet on standardbred breeding.

The North Eastern Advertiser based at Scottsdale on Tasmania’s north east coast actively promotes harness racing in the region and given that harness racing only returned to the region this year after a covid inflicted hiatuses.

In this weeks edition editor Taylor Clyne highlights locally owned and bred pacer Coby Sanz who is the result of mating by Ringarooma breeders Nathan and Sandra Bennett

Colby Sanz a six-year-old by Betterthancheddar out of Soho Summer a Western Ideal mare is trained by Kent Rattray also a local based at Lietinna just seven kilometres from Scottdale.

Soho Summer was purchased by the Bennett’s from prominent West Australian breeder Rob Watson, and has had three runners to the races for a 100 percent strike rate and she still has a three-year-old by Sportswriter and a colt by Lather Up to come.

Congratulations to the North Eastern Advertiser for promotion harness racing in the region.
